World Environment Day!

The World Environment Day celebration at KLES' International School, Belagavi, aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and promote sustainable practices among students. The event featured a variety of activities designed to inspire action towards protecting our planet.

This year's theme, "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience, emphasized the urgent need to address current environmental challenges."

Principal Mrs. Dipti Ingley delivered a passionate speech, reaffirming the school's commitment to environmental sustainability and urging students to take proactive measures to protect the environment.

Students had the opportunity to engage in a compost-making activity, guided by Mrs. Jyoti and Mrs. Raksha, fostering a sense of empowerment and community involvement. Additionally, NCC students actively participated in a tree plantation drive.

The Environment Day celebration was a resounding success, effectively combining educational presentations with engaging song and dance performances, skits, and interactive activities. The event inspired everyone to become agents of positive change in safeguarding our environment.

Mr. Nayan Momaya, Founder and Chief Recycling Officer of Recycle Earth Foundation, a renowned NGO based in Hubballi, conducted a session at KLES’ International school on 12th July 2023 during school hours.

Mr. Momaya, an expert in recycling and environmental conservation, shared valuable insights on the importance of e-waste management and its impact on the environment. His session was enlightening and informative for all our students.

As part of this initiative, we requested students and their families to contribute by donating e-waste materials from their homes. These materials included items such as mobile phones, chargers, keyboards, music systems, and cable wires. By donating these electronic items, we ensured their proper recycling and prevented them from becoming hazardous waste in landfills.

World Environment Day 2023

Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5th June, since 1973, World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. It's the 50th year today and this year the theme pertains to 'Solutions to plastic pollution'.

This underscores the importance of this World Environment Day in mobilizing transformative action from every corner of the world.

The esteemed guests for today's plantation drive at KLES' International School, Belagavi were
1) Mr. P. Murali Mohan Reddy, Senior Civil Judge & Member Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Belagavi.
2) Mr. Manjunath Chavan, IFS Chief Conservator of Forest, Belagavi Circle.
3) Mr. Harsha Bhanu GP, IFS Deputy Conservator of Forest, Belagavi Division.
4) Mr. Shivarudrappa Kabadagi,SFS Assistant Conservator of forest.

The school choir group and Miss Daksha Bevinmarad entertained the dignitaries with their song and dance performances.

The students from Class 12 and the 26 KAR Bat NCC troop along with ANO participated in the plantation drive, conducted in the school premises.

'ONLY ONE EARTH'
The World Environment day, has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. The 2022 World Environment campaign 'Only One Earth' calls for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet. KLES' International School, Belagavi conducted a workshop on the occasion of 'The World Environment Day'. !!!

The eminent guests were Dr. Arati Bhandare, a dentist by profession and the founder/ director of the non-profit organization 'Amulya Boondh' which aims at sustainable living. She conducted a session on 'Citrus Bioenzyme'.

Mr. Pradeep N.V ,the Managing Partner at Nisarga Consultants, Belagavi who has installed several Rainwater Harvesting Units at various sites in and around Belagavi along with sewage treatment plants at numerous places , presented his views on 'Conservation of Water by Rainwater Harvesting'.

The high school students attended the workshop and were enlightened about the various aspects on using our resources well for a better tomorrow.

The primary and the middle school students conducted various activities to drive home the fact about sustainability and a holistic perspective as regards saving Mother Earth from extinction. Principal, Mrs. Dipti Ingley, reiterated the necessity of restoring the peace in our world and preserving the natural resources for a happy and a prosperous society.
